Callum Taylor
The timeline between searching for a job and accepting the offer was very quick-paced.
I felt that Arbtech were selling so many positives that are not widely available in the industry, and that made my decision easy, particularly things like an unlimited CPD budget, full autonomy over your workload, great socials and a lot of independence.
I also got a really good first impression of the team and the company during my interview process. The interviews were very relaxed, and I learned a lot about the team, the company, the usual day-to-day as an Arbtecher, what my job role would look like, and how I could continue my professional development.
Initially, my attention was drawn to the company by the opportunity of working with an unlimited CPD budget. I am really looking forward to having the chance to be able to develop my knowledge and skills more.
I was also really happy to hear that the company offer full autonomy around the pattern of working to suit the individual. It is really refreshing to have this available to make sure the time you spend working is the most efficient without impacting your personal life too much.
My partner and I have recently bought a house together, so I need a lot of time for home improvements at the moment!
That said, I don’t mind spending as much time as possible working on the garden and finding excuses to drag my partner to the local garden centres.
I also enjoy going to concerts, comedy shows and musicals. Some of my recent favourites have been Adele, Taylor Swift, Sarah Millican and Wicked!
Split your goals up into short-term and long-term tasks.
Choose goals you are genuinely interested in and plan out some milestones to keep yourself on track.
Don’t pressure yourself if these tasks take longer than you were expecting, and just stay positive to keep yourself motivated to carry on.
I haven’t been on any as yet but looking forward to my first!
I have a list of places I’d like to travel to.
After working so heavily on our house, I would say that the holiday style is more important than the destination. I will be happy anywhere I can spend a relaxing week in the sun, with loads of cocktails and plenty of time to relax and switch off.
I’m not well known to have rigid long-term plans, but in five years, I think I would hope to have gained a promotion at Arbtech.
I also want to tick off a few of my travel aspirations, adopt a dog, and be on our way to buying another house tucked away in a quiet area of the countryside.
I’d like to refine my professional skills further and continue to improve my confidence in more complex issues.
I want to maintain an open stance on this though, as I want to keep my opportunities to develop open and see where it takes me.
