Having been a surgical dental nurse for nearly five years and suffered a plateau with progression opportunities, I was looking for a complete change in my career.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had an enthusiasm for property development and all involved processes. When the admin role for Arbtech came up – and after some research – I quickly learned that the company values and goals were something I wanted to be a part of and was eager to learn more!
I went in blind in terms of previous experience, but Rob thought I would fit in with the team, and with me open to learn, agreed to take me on and show me the ropes.
I love the way that Rob looks after his team.
He genuinely wants the best for everyone and shows that in the perks and opportunities he offers. Whether they benefit your mental health, physical health, social skills or career goals, they are all very carefully thought out to ensure he has a happy and healthy team.
Progression is highly encouraged, and I love the emphasis on the ‘family’ type of team they have created. The first time I walked into the office, I was greeted with such a warm welcome and a very happy and relaxed atmosphere.
The company’s amazing socials enable everyone to let their hair down and mingle outside of work – who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?
I love the outdoors, so outside of work, I do a lot of hiking around North Wales. My favourite little climb is probably Tryfan in the Ogwen Valley.
Me and my partner do a lot of trips in the camper van to places like Cornwall and Scotland. We flipped the first small camper van not long after lockdown and wanted something bigger, so we got an ex-ambulance!
Currently looking for a tiny home to flip or land to build a little cabin on as a holiday let. That’s the next dream hobby – I love anything DIY!
I also love going to the gym, horse riding and spending time catching up with friends. We’re usually either vintage shopping or having a lively brunch somewhere.
I would say don’t settle and allow yourself to make uncomfortable decisions.
I think so many people have ‘goals’ but only ever think about them and don’t actually act on them. If you settle for average, they will always stay goals and never become achievements.
I also think the most uncomfortable decisions usually have the largest positive impact on your life, and that’s why people often settle – it’s more comfortable.
I haven’t been on any socials just yet, but I’ve heard they are amazing!
The ski trip in Austria sounded fantastic, and from what I’ve heard, all of the socials are a laugh.
I’ve booked a solo skydive this year after a long time of trying to convince my friends to join me, so to hear that on the cards as a potential future social event at Arbtech is music to my ears!
America, for sure.
I’ve always had it in my head that I want to eventually live in America, somewhere like California or Florida. I’m not made for this wet Welsh weather, and I love the culture there.
The idea of having a beach on my doorstep is also somewhat appealing…
With Arbtech, I see the company expanding greatly and see myself being part of a well-established team.
I hope to be more involved in the surveying side and would love to have experience out in the field, working towards a higher qualification.
More than anything, my biggest goal is to have one.
If not, maybe I’d have multiple holiday/short-term rentals up and running in scenic spots across North Wales. I want a constant stream of DIY flips and projects on in the background keeping me busy as I struggle to sit still!
I also want to travel at any given opportunity and hope I can say in a couple of years that I’ve ticked some more places off my bucket list.
Codie joined Arbtech in March 2024.
