Deqa hails from the London Borough of Ealing, often referred to as the ‘Queen of the suburbs’, where she first began to fall in love with and appreciate all things nature. She is lucky enough to be within walking distance from a local zoo and has a plethora of open green spaces and parks which she made plenty of use of in her early years. It was no surprise then that she decided to dedicate her dissertation towards urban parks, what makes a great park and how they benefit their local communities.
After doing a taster training day with Arbtech back in 2017 during her undergraduate degree, Deqa was certain she wanted to join Arbtech’s ASSET course in 2019 as soon as the opportunity arose. This course kickstarted her professional career within the ecological sector and she has since been sub-contracting for us for the past three seasons. Deqa now works full-time as an Ecological Surveyor and is currently working towards her class I bat licence.
Deqa enjoys taking hiking trails across the home counties. She decided to pick up an instrument during the pandemic – The harmonica. Geopolitical conversations, relevant and irrelevant to current world affairs, are also of great interest to her.
