Joe Slade
Joe is one of our ecologists based on the south coast of England. He undertakes a variety of ecological surveys including bat, reptile and great crested newt surveys, as well as preliminary ecological appraisal.
Joe holds a Natural England licence for great crested newts and bats. Prior to his full-time, permanent employment at Arbtech he sub-contracted to us for several years, under the watchful eye of Natalie, whom trained him all the way from field assistant to lead surveyor, and still acts as his mentor today.
He has aspirations to progress through the ranks as his knowledge and skillset grows, which is good, because we have very high hopes for him!
Jo has been with us 5 years.
Robert Oates, managing director says:
Like many of the ‘Checos’, Joe worked for Arbtech for a couple of years as a sub-contractor. Each time we need to grow the team internally, the first place we look is our pool of trusted sub-contractors: people we know, people we like, and people we (and our clients) can trust.
As a lead surveyor in the sub-contractor network–the highest honour we bestow on non-Arbetchers!–and located in an area that we do a lot of bat survey work (Hampshire/Sussex), it seemed daft to expand the search beyond him and a couple of other candidates of the same ilk. As the selection process wore on, it became very clear that Joe was head and shoulders above the rest, and to my delight, when we made him an offer; he accepted.
Meet the other members of our leading ecology and arboriculture team.
