Ryan Wilson
I chose Arbtech to further my career in arboriculture.
I felt that Arbtech has the right people and culture within it to help further people that have the drive to improve themselves professionally and personally. And so far, this has been the case.
I have been taken in, trained, and given the tools to do my job. In turn, I intend to further myself and provide a good service to my clients and the company.
The refreshing way in which Arbtech treats its employees.
We are expected to meet deadlines and targets, like any other company. Unlike other companies, however, we are well rewarded for hard work and our health – be it mental or physical – is always cared for.
Before entering the world of arboriculture, I worked for too many people that viewed me as a source of income and nothing more. But from my limited time with the company so far, this seems more like a family.
I always try and take up new hobbies.
Currently, my list of hobbies is longer than any sane person should have. But to save you time, I will trim them down to the top three.
I met my now fiancé whilst in university, and it turned out that she was a ski instructor and that not being able to ski was a red flag for her. She then made it her duty to teach me to ski, but the jury is still out on if she was successful.
My grandfather taught me to sail at a young age. He was part of the RNLI and thought it was an essential skill to have; he was not wrong. I lived on the Isle of Man at the time, so it was the ideal place to learn.
My final hobby is volunteering for the RNLI. It turns out that if your grandfather is in the RNLI, it is one of those things that run in the family. This has taught me a great number of life lessons and I regard all of my crewmates as family.
Heed the advice of those who know more than you.
I haven’t yet been able to attend any of the socials at Arbtech, but from what I hear, they are certainly worth getting involved in and I’m excited to see what the future holds for them.
I feel like it is a necessary stop for people that are into the outdoors. This island is full of beautiful scenery and more adventurous experiences than you could shake a stick at.
If I were ever to take up the vagrant lifestyle, I would buy a van and travel across continental America with Vancouver Island being the staging ground.
Here at Arbtech.
I am in the middle of buying a house with my partner and I can predict a child in the coming years.
I feel extremely positive that Arbtech will provide the needed stability for the future of myself and my family.
More than anything, I’d like to reach a point of financial independence.
I’d probably start by paying my student loan off before working towards getting my mortgage settled.
Ryan joined Arbtech in June 2023.
