Dan Crispin
I was looking for a change in direction for my career to move into ecology.
The internship at Arbtech offered an opportunity to gain experience in the industry without having to go back to university or spend countless hours doing unpaid work just to get my foot in the door.
The company looked forward-thinking and like it really cared about its employees, their professional development, and their wellbeing.
The autonomy over my own work and flexibility to choose what to take on, which allow me to pursue my interests outside of the company and bring my best self to work.
I appreciate the collaborative attitude of everyone I have worked with and feel supported by all my colleagues, no matter how silly my questions feel.
I am looking forward to making the most out of the unlimited CPD and training Arbtech provides.
I am an avid boulderer and go several times a week, picking up the sport after COVID.
I spend my weekends going on walks and exploring the local area to find places I haven’t been to before.
My evenings are spent doing crochet – mainly animals, plants and mushrooms.
Sometimes, you just have to go and do it!
More often than not, just thinking about something is the worst part.
I’ve only just recently joined Arbtech so have not had the opportunity to go to any socials yet, but I am very much looking forward to the Christmas party and meeting all my colleagues in person.
I would like to go back to the mountains.
Whether it involves hiking or skiing, I don’t know, but I haven’t been for a few years and would love to visit them again.
I want to develop my ecology skills in general, grow my confidence in my role, and find my niche within the industry to maintain a sustainable career for myself.
In work, I would like to attain a protected species licence to help better protect vulnerable species.
Outside of work, I want to learn to lead climb, although I will have to get over my fear of heights first!
Dan joined Arbtech in October 2024.
