What made you choose Arbtech?
What drew me to Arbtech was the work culture that it offers and how this is used to ensure that every one of its employees feels valued and appreciated for their work and the contributions they make.
Arbtech also offers a wide range of benefits to all its employees, such as job progression, private health care and flexible working to name but a few.
It’s rare to find a company like Arbtech that is willing to make sure that the staff’s well-being is at the forefront, which in turn creates a positive work environment and results in employees wanting to go above and beyond for the company.
I also wanted to be part of a company which is not only extremely passionate about what it does but also prides itself on offering outstanding service to its customers, with Arbtech standing as the go-to place for ecology and arboricultural surveys.
What do you love most about the company?
There are so many benefits and rewards from being an Arbtech employee, such as a contribution toward a gym membership, a generous holiday allowance, a Fitbit, an Audible account, and the opportunity to go on exciting staff socials.
However, what I love most at Arbtech is the people that I work with. Everyone is always willing to help you no matter how busy they are, and nothing is ever too much trouble.
There is so much to learn about the different services that Arbtech offers, and this always helps to keep the role interesting, as no day is ever the same and you are always learning new things no matter how long you have worked within the business, especially as the industry is ever-changing.
Working for such an amazing company, I have learnt so much and feel incredibly lucky to be part of the team and work with so many wonderful people.
What do you do when you are not at Arbtech?
When I am not working at Arbtech, I enjoy running. I took it up initially at the start of 2022, and last year, I ran in the 10K, Half Marathon and Metric Marathon, gaining my triple medal. I am hoping to continue running and run in the same events again this year.
I also enjoy cooking – especially for my family – and spending time socialising with my friends.
I have also recently started learning sign language in my spare time, which I am thoroughly enjoying. I have always believed that it’s important to always push yourself and learn new things.
What is your biggest tip to achieve the most in life?
- Always try and seize every opportunity, as many wonderful things pass our way every day. Try to summon up the energy to go after them, remain focused and think of the long-term gains.
- If you want to make a difference for yourself, you have to get out there, so people can see what you are doing; don’t just hide away.
- Never put things off. If you have a goal that you want to achieve, just go for it, as life is far too short, and you will always regret the things that you didn’t do.
If something seems unachievable or out of your reach, I always find that making a list and breaking it down into small steps is a great way of seeing what you need to do to achieve your goals.
Also, I believe that you get back what you put out, so I have always found that being positive and kind, and treating others how you wish to be treated, is a great mindset to have.
What is the best social you’ve been on at Arbtech?
The Christmas party social is by far my favourite, as it brings the whole company together and is a great way to get to know everyone, as the majority of people live across the UK and rarely get to meet.
The company’s director Rob is extremely generous to his employees and ensures that everyone feels appreciated for their hard work. I have never worked for a company that gives so much to its staff, in turn creating a positive working environment.
Arbtech has many paid socials to go on throughout the year, which is great, as it helps to build positive working relationships and is one of the main reasons why I believe everyone is always very supportive of one another.
One of the next big socials is skydiving, and I’m sure this social will soon become my new favourite, as this activity has been at the top of my bucket list for a long time.
Where do you want to travel to next?
I really want to go to Costa Rica.
I did book a holiday there back in 2020, but unfortunately – due to COVID – this had to be cancelled. I really want to go to see the wildlife, especially the sloths, and explore its famous rainforests and national parks.
I have always enjoyed travelling, as I feel it’s a great way to experience new cultures, meet new people, practice different languages, and try new cuisines.
My favourite holiday so far was to Cuba, mainly due to its beautiful architecture, classic cars, and the people, who were all extremely friendly and welcoming.
I expect Costa Rica will soon become my new favourite spot.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
In five years time, at Arbtech, I would hope to be an established quoter within the sales team, as I have really enjoyed working with the company so far and couldn’t see myself anywhere else.
I would also want to be in a position where I am able to train others using the experience and knowledge that I would have gained in my time at Arbtech.
Outside of work, I have been renovating a house that I bought five years ago, which has been a labour of love, and it has taught me a lot. So, in the next five years, I would hope to have all the works finished and be on my way to buying my second home.
Recently, I have also become interested in learning sign language and have started to learn it in my spare time. I hope to be able to assist with translating for others in the future.
What is a goal you have for the future, in or out of work?
I have only just started my training as a quoter at Arbtech, which I am enjoying so much.
I would like to excel in my role and become an established team member, being able to take on tasks involving complex files and high-value clients confidently. I really enjoy working at Arbtech and have learnt so much over the past 12 months. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a great company and excellent team, and I would hope to be able to continue on this journey with Arbtech and progress further in my role.
Outside of work, I would like to be able to complete my home renovations and be in a position to buy a second home.
I would also like to continue my running and hope to work my way up to running a full marathon one day soon.
Charlotte joined Arbtech in November 2021.
