Jon Kewell
I’m in it for the bats!
I’ve been doing emergence surveys for Arbtech for ten years now and so knew about their reputation as a flexible and employee-friendly working environment.
Joining full-time seemed the logical next step for me to do my bit and help protect the little critters (the bats; not the employees).
I think the sense of camaraderie within the staff.
Everyone is so friendly that you really look forward to seeing everyone in the field or at socials. They’ll go out of their way to help you out and you will happily do the same for them.
It instils a sense of family.
I’m an avid reader and enjoy learning about nigh on anything.
I enjoy just about every kind of artistic expression and can be often found writing or sketching, or tinkering with some kind of musical apparatus.
I’m also kind of a horror movie buff.
Never cease trying to understand.
I’ve been involved in orchestrating our South Coast end-of-bat-season socials since we’ve been doing them, and they are always something on the calendar that I look forward to tremendously.
The Christmas social in 2023 was a fantastic night as well. Crazy, but fantastic!
Certain Pacific islands are bulging to the seams with indigenous species. I’d love to visit those one day.
On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind spending some time in a nice cosy log cabin in the Canadian tundra.
Anywhere really as long as it has history and/or a view.
Hopefully not too distant from where I am now, except a lot smarter and more streamlined at what I do.
I’d definitely want a nicer garden though. And more books!
Moving house.
My other half and I are really sick to death of our current house/area and are currently looking to move to the South West for its peace and beautiful surroundings.
I’d also really like to write a novel and have it published. I love to write but tend to find endings difficult. One day though, I’m hopeful that one of my beginnings/middles will make it all the way to the end.
Jon joined Arbtech in December 2024.
