Having worked two seasons bat surveying with Arbtech whilst studying, I wanted to join as a full-time member of staff.
Their approach to hybrid working, flexible and trusting work culture and unlimited personal development was a massive pull for me.
I wanted to work for a company that stood by the ‘you get back what you put in’ approach, and I feel Arbtech does this by offering so many perks and so much flexibility, allowing staff to be rewarded in different ways for their hard work and passion for the job.
Although I’m new to the company, I love how highly the staff speak about working at Arbtech and how willing they are to share skills.
I am excited about how much training they offer and how keen they are to support my development in multiple areas.
I think this really makes Arbtech stand out as a company that genuinely wants you to improve yourself.
I love being outside, whether it’s hiking, wild camping, paddleboarding, running, bike packing or sitting around a fire.
I really enjoy ‘type 2’ fun, where you are out doing something challenging and it is enjoyable only after it finishes.
For me, it’s very addictive and always feels like an adventure.
Always stay curious.
Do a wide variety of things and stay open to different opportunities, whether they seem big or small.
As I’ve only recently joined the company, I sadly haven’t been on any yet.
I’ve heard great things about the socials here, so I’m really looking forward to attending my first!
This year, I will be returning to Norway and also visiting Hungary for the first time, so my next trips are already planned.
But after that, I would love to visit Estonia to explore the woodlands and sauna culture. I’d also love to cycle the length of the UK one day.
I have recently moved to Woking and want to explore the local area by having micro-adventures, whether that’s walking down a new path, paddling along the local river, or visiting a cafe I have never been to.
Travel and adventure are more a mindset than a location, so I am trying to apply this closer to me in Surrey!
Still working with Arbtech, having been productive in developing different skills and gaining more qualifications, meaning that I am doing work that I love at the highest possible level.
In five years, I will have continued to make the most of my time by travelling with my partner, seeing a lot of family and developing myself in many different ways.
My in-work goal would be to gain an arborist climbing certification to conduct bat surveys, combining both my arboricultural and ecological experience.
I am very keen to gain skills in both fields, so combining my knowledge would be great!
Out of work, I would like to have bought a place with my partner and start doing a lot of DIY to make the place our own. Maybe even build my own sauna in the garden!
Chloe joined Arbtech in October 2026.
