Miriam Anderson
I chose Arbtech because a close friend of mine – who has been in the ecology field for as long as I have – spoke very highly of the company.
Her love for the job and the positive experiences she shared made it clear that Arbtech was a great place to work.
The company also offers valuable benefits, such as support in obtaining species licences, access to both internal and external training opportunities and a strong focus on employee wellbeing, which were all huge draws for me specifically.
What I love most about Arbtech is the flexibility and support it offers.
It allows me to manage my schedule in a way that suits me best, giving me the freedom to balance my work with the hobbies and interests I enjoy outside of my career.
When I’m not working at Arbtech, I stay very active and make the most of my free time.
I’m a member of the women’s Mavericks American Football team, which keeps me physically challenged and mentally focused, and I also enjoy regular training sessions at the gym.
Beyond sports and fitness, I’m an avid reader and love to immerse myself in a good book whenever I can.
One of my greatest passions is travel. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit multiple countries over the years, and I’m always looking for my next adventure. By the end of this year, I will have seen four of the Seven Wonders of the World.
I also cherish spending quality time with my family and friends, who keep me grounded and supported in everything I do.
One of the biggest tips I live by is to do what you want when you want to.
Life is too short to wait for the ‘perfect time’ to enjoy it.
If you keep putting things off, you risk missing out on the best parts.
Although I haven’t been with Arbtech long enough to attend any official socials yet, I’ve already had the chance to share a workspace with other ecologists in my area.
It was a great experience to meet people locally, and everyone was incredibly welcoming and fun to be around.
This year, I’m especially excited about my upcoming travels to China and Mexico.
Exploring new places is a big passion of mine, and I can’t wait to immerse myself in the culture and experiences these countries have to offer.
In five years’ time, I hope to be a homeowner here in the UK.
Professionally, I aim to reach the level of senior ecologist and obtain both a Class 1 and 2 bat licence and a dormouse licence, which are significant milestones in my career path.
Ultimately, one of my biggest goals in life is to travel the world and experience as many different places as possible.
A dream of mine is to one day volunteer with orangutans in Borneo.
