Katie Belbin
I saw an opportunity to be able to get into the ecology world without having to go back to university. The BERS internship at Arbtech seemed like an amazing way for me to get my foot in the door, and I was right!
I really like the fact that it’s a forward-thinking workplace where they put their employees first, which I think is a breath of fresh air.
I enjoy the collaborative environment at Arbtech.
Working with talented and supportive colleagues not only boosts productivity but also makes each day extremely enjoyable.
I appreciate the flexibility that my job offers. It allows me to pursue my passions outside of work and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
When I’m not working, I’m most likely either at yoga or out with friends going to gigs.
I am obsessed with crafting, and it feels like every weekend I start a new crafting hobby.
I love to embroider, and at the moment, I am trying my hand at lino printing.
I also love going on hot girl walks and exploring new places with friends and family.
Focusing on your goal is important, but do not obsess over it.
Keeping your journey productive but also fun will ensure you’re motivated without overworking yourself.
The people you surround yourself with can have a big impact on your success, so surround yourself with supportive and positive people who will encourage and inspire you.
I would also suggest saying yes to every opportunity that comes your way, even if it seems scary at the time.
I’ve only recently started at Arbtech, so unfortunately, I haven’t been to one yet.
I am very excited about the Christmas party coming up soon though, especially as it will be an amazing opportunity to meet all my lovely colleagues.
My dream holiday location is Japan – everything about that place excites me!
Workwise, I try not to plan too far into the future. I like setting small achievable goals so I don’t get too overwhelmed. One of these goals is to work towards my Level 1 bat licence.
I would love to own my own little property with a small garden that I can renovate by myself and make it my own. At some point, I would really like to own a dog – the scruffier and uglier, the better!
I am really into my crafting and one of the techniques I would love to get into is stain glass. I did a stain glass course last year and absolutely loved it.
I would really like to be able to expand my knowledge by getting as much ecology experience as I can.
I would also love to be able to get my great crested newt and bird ringing licence. I had the opportunity to help out bird ringers at Knepp last October, and I really enjoyed it. It’s also a great way to keep up with my bird identification skills.
Katie joined Arbtech in October 2024.
