Abby Smith
From the start, it felt like choosing Arbtech would mean being part of a family, which is something I really wanted.
It seems like a supportive team who want you to excel in your role. From the moment I stepped into the office, I was greeted by everyone with a warm welcome that made me feel like I was already part of the team and had been there for years. It was a breath of fresh air to have everyone want to get to know me as a person and not just based on my professional career.
I love that I was offered a cup of tea the moment I stepped into the office for the first time and that the same happens every single time I’m there, regardless of who is in that day.
Since day one, it has said a lot about the company that everyone speaks so highly of it, as well as how highly everyone speaks about each other. I was made to feel welcome and like I would be treated as a valued member of the team.
In my spare time, I love fitness and being active, whether that involves running, training or yoga.
I also love going walking in Wales, or at least I do when the weather is kind to me.
I completed my first charity run last year for Cancer Research UK and raised over £1,000. I only took up running last year, so for me, it was very challenging, but the feeling at the end is unmatched!
I also love reading crime novels and psychological thrillers, even though anything gruesome makes me shudder. Other than that, I love to travel as much as possible with my fiancé – our last break was to Bologna in Italy.
Embrace as many opportunities as possible.
Don’t be afraid to fail.
Focus on yourself and don’t worry about what others think.
I am unfortunately yet to go on a social with Arbtech due to only recently joining the team, but I look forward to getting involved with them!
The next three places on my list would be:
In five years, I see myself married with a dog and have successfully ticked off the three places I want to visit next. That said, ideally, I will have been to many more places in that time.
In terms of my career, I want to work towards a role with more responsibilities and, in time, develop to such a level that I am trusted and capable of leading a team.
I would love to work towards being able to run a 10k marathon.
For me, this would solidify my place as what I would consider a ‘serious’ runner.
I also want to visit as many places as possible and buy a bigger house, particularly so we have more room for the multiple dogs I want to own in the future.
Abigail joined Arbtech in February 2023.
