Clare Swinburn
I had become unhappy, bored and underappreciated in my previous job, and I felt that I had no work-life balance, so I decided to seek a new position.
I put my CV out, came across the position at Arbtech, and my skills matched what they were looking for.
I was a little nervous, as I had never worked within the industry before, but I found the services that were on offer quite interesting and, as I do like a challenge, I was super keen to get stuck in.
I had my interview at head office, felt really at ease and was offered the job on the same day.
I was thrilled and accepted straight away.
I love everything about Arbtech, the company ethos, and the culture.
There are a variety of personalities, and while everyone has different hobbies and interests, we all have the same drive and willingness to strive at working hard to get success.
We don’t all work from the same central location, but we can keep in touch via Slack, assisting us with anything from seeking help to just having a chat.
Everyone is super supportive and helpful. We are not just colleagues but friends too, making it feel like one big family.
Rob and the management team are very supportive, look out for everyone’s health and well-being, and are available day or night should they be needed.
Outside of work, I spend my time with my husband-to-be and our two children, so evenings and days off are spent as a family.
We enjoy a variety of different activities like walking, swimming, zoo days and bowling, as well as relaxed activities such as board games, movie nights and playing on the Wii.
In the warmer weather, we enjoy trips to the beach, BBQs, and chilling in the hot tub.
Like most people, I love food and do enjoy eating out when I can. My favourite foods are Mexican, Italian and Chinese.
As well as eating out, I enjoy having friends and family around for food and drinks. I enjoy cooking and we often bake cakes.
You only get one trip around the block, so live your life and give things a go.
Eat well, sleep well, and look after yourself. You are in control of your own happiness.
It’s very difficult to choose just one, as they are all amazing!
I personally really enjoyed the Christmas social, as nearly all of the Arbtechers were in attendance. As such, it was really lovely to get around and speak to everyone face-to-face.
It was the best night with the best company!
I am not an avid traveller abroad. We do enjoy UK trips to Cornwall, however, and have been to Newquay every summer over the last couple of years. In fact, we enjoy it so much that our plan is to go there again in June.
My husband-to-be does fancy a trip abroad next year, so watch this space! We aren’t sure where just yet, but recommendations are always welcome.
In an ideal world, retired after I manage to land a lottery win!
On a serious note, my main hope for so far away is that I will still be working for Arbtech, as I do truly love this job!
I will be continuing with my weight loss journey, with the intention of eventually getting fit.
As always, my priority is to take as much time as possible for myself and my family.
In work, I would like to make myself more effective in my role and for the company by gaining a better understanding of the more complex surveys.
Clare joined Arbtech in March 2020.
