The team ethos and company culture.
After undertaking an extensive amount of research into the company, it was clear to see that Arbtech takes pride in supporting its employees and clients alike.
Just take a look at the benefits offered to employees – no other ecological company out there even comes close. The team is so supportive, and it’s always on hand to help with any question or query.
Having previously worked in UK conservation for 15 years, I took the leap and applied for their internship, as I saw this as an opportunity to explore the world of ecological consultancy and build upon my previous experience. Arbtech is the only company I’ve seen that offered such an opportunity, and I was immensely grateful to have been offered a place.
The flexibility and the variety of work.
I have full autonomy over my schedule, and this provides a good work-life balance – something that is especially important as I have a young family.
The suite of surveys offered by the company means that I have the opportunity to get involved with as much as I want! This is great for my career progression and also pushes me outside of my comfort zone.
I’m a social person, so I take any opportunity to meet up with friends and family.
I’m also a keen biker (although children have put a temporary pause on this) and love nothing more than taking the bike out in the sunshine.
I enjoy keeping active; walking, running and going to the gym, and I’ve also undertaken multiple ultra challenges, most notably the Cotswold Way 100km Challenge – the views were immense but the hills were not!
Push yourself!
It’s very easy to stay comfortable but get out of your comfort zone whenever possible and do things that scare you!
I’ve heard so much about the staff socials, and I can’t wait to see if they live up to the hype; I’ve heard they’re not to be missed!
I would love to take the family to Canada to see the Rockies, but realistically, we’ll probably be staying a little closer to home.
There are loads of cool places to visit in the UK and high up on the list is visiting the temperate rainforest along the western coast.
Hopefully still at Arbtech, particularly as there’s so much to learn from the amazing team!
I hope to have a few protected species licences to my name too, and I want to be able to assist and support the team with any water vole and dormouse projects.
I would love to finish renovating our house; everything needed doing when we moved in seven years ago and we’ve completed a lot of it, but there’s still so much to do.
A (very) distant physical goal is to run an ultra-marathon! But I may regret saying that…
Vicki joined Arbtech in October 2024.
