Viktoria Kossmann
I started out in a ‘Big 4’ company but soon realised I wanted something more dynamic, faster-paced, and with a stronger sense of purpose.
Arbtech stood out right away for its culture and values, and for the way people can quickly take ownership of projects and make a real impact.
I was also struck by how openly Arbtech shares its views — from Rob’s posts on LinkedIn to the way people talk about the company — and it made me realise that honesty and authenticity are taken seriously here.
On top of that, the focus on ecology and helping clients develop responsibly really appealed to me.
What I already love about Arbtech is how people-focused it is.
From the outside, it’s clear there’s a real effort to make sure everyone feels supported but also trusted to grow in their own way.
Things like the wish list scheme are a fun example, but it also seems to be about the day-to-day atmosphere: open, honest and supportive while still giving people the space to push themselves.
That balance feels quite rare, and it’s something I really value.
I try to travel whenever I can – anything from a relaxed beach holiday to an adventure trip.
This summer, I went to Svalbard in the Arctic (sadly, no polar bears), and my next big trip will be to Argentina for New Year’s.
I’ve tried to travel within the UK more this year, starting by exploring the little beach towns down south.
I also love doing different kinds of sports classes, usually dragging along friends so we can laugh about the pain afterwards!
At home, I enjoy cooking, though I wouldn’t say I’m quite a master chef yet… improvements are definitely still being made.
And I still have a big passion for international development, which I studied at university, so I often read research papers and then end up discussing them with friends.
For me, it’s about pushing myself outside my comfort zone – that’s usually where the good stuff happens – staying curious, and remembering that health is really important.
If you’re not feeling well, everything else gets a lot harder.
I also think knowing your priorities helps you stay focused and efficient, so you don’t waste time on things that don’t really matter.
I’m really looking forward to my first Arbtech social.
I’ve heard and read great things, so I’ll report back once I’ve experienced one myself!
Antarctica is high up on the list (I’m determined to finally meet some penguins).
In the meantime, I’ll be heading to Argentina for New Year’s, and there might be a few European weekend trips sneaking their way into the calendar too.
In five years, I’d like to have built enough experience to take on more responsibility and contribute to bigger-picture projects.
Other than that, I’m happy to go with the flow, as long as I’m still learning and being challenged.
Personally, I’d also love to have travelled more and maybe discovered some new passions and interests along the way.
I’d love to connect my passion for politics with my work wherever possible – hopefully even here at Arbtech.
That said, it’s something I can definitely see myself pursuing outside of work as well.
