I chose Arbtech because of the strong opportunities it offers to develop and grow within the ecology field.
Having a degree in ecology, I was particularly drawn to the internship opportunities, which provide valuable training and a structured pathway into the industry.
Arbtech’s focus on hands-on fieldwork and direct training really appealed to me, as I’m keen to build on my academic background by gaining more practical experience.
The emphasis on professional development – from structured training to practical fieldwork opportunities – really stands out to me.
I also admire how Arbtech combines a supportive and collaborative culture with high-quality ecological work, creating an environment where I can learn from experienced colleagues while contributing meaningfully to projects.
When I’m not at Arbtech, I like to spend as much time outdoors as possible.
Hiking and walking are a big part of my routine, and I’m also a passionate outdoor swimmer. Lake swimming is something I do regularly, but I also make use of the ocean whenever I get the chance to visit the coast.
I also enjoy going to concerts, events and festivals with friends. I’m in Bristol pretty much every other weekend, visiting friends and enjoying the music in the city.
Say yes to every experience and always be busy.
The intern training weekend was really enjoyable and helped ease the nerves of starting a new role.
It was great to meet everyone in person, which made it much easier to feel comfortable and connect with colleagues while working from home afterwards.
Next year, I have planned to head on a year-long adventure, travelling through South America and Southeast Asia.
Hopefully, I’ll end the year celebrating Christmas on a sunny beach in Australia.
In five years, I hope to have thoroughly travelled and completed some bucket list experiences.
I also aim to have completed my master’s degree, building on my knowledge and skills in my field.
I would also love to be living in Cornwall, having full access to the beach every day.
My main goals include travelling, living in Cornwall, completing my master’s, and hopefully directing my career towards a marine ecology and conservation field.
Amber joined Arbtech in October 2025.
