Adam Walding-Kelly
I spent 2024 as a subcontractor doing BERS after being brought in by a former Arbtecher to help them out as a surveyor on their sites, and I absolutely loved everything about it right from the first shadowing experience!
Continuing on through the summer, meeting more of the Arbtech staff and hearing all the positives of working for Arbtech and the opportunities available, I knew it was where I wanted to be, and I was lucky to be hired as a 2025 Intern.
The flexibility to work our own schedules that suit us, choosing what days we work on site and what days are office/admin days.
It’s a really important thing to be trusted to work in this way and something I am really appreciative of.
I like to race an Outlaw Formula 2 Stockcar at tracks around the southern half of England, with my home track being based at Standlake in Oxfordshire.
I also attend a lot of music gigs and festivals. At the top of my list sits Frank Turner, who I have seen 45 times so far!
I also like to travel, having visited many countries in Europe and continuing to try and visit new ones every single year.
Have confidence in yourself and your own ability.
It can be very easy to doubt yourself and feel like you don’t belong when things are hard, but you do!
So far, I’ve only been on the Intern introduction one in Oxford during our first week in April 2025, which I really enjoyed.
I am very much excited to see what ArbCon is all about though, and I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the team.
Everywhere!
I have a goal to visit every country in Europe (I’ve ticked off Western Europe and almost all of Scandinavia) and have begun to plan an interrailing trip for my birthday in 2026, which will tick off a few more of them as I head out eastwards into some of the lesser-travelled areas.
I want to visit New Zealand and hire a camper, spending a few weeks touring both islands. Maybe one day!
I’d like to still be with Arbtech, having acquired at least my level 1 bat licence and gained experience of further working on badger sites, as this is an area I am really enjoying currently.
In work, I want to achieve my level 1 bat licence as I build up my skills, as well as furthering my knowledge on botany and then begin working towards obtaining other species licences and gaining skills in badgers in particular.
Outside of work, I’d like to reach red grade in my stockcar and try and improve on my 2025 performance, where I managed to win seven races, including my first ever final, as well as the aforementioned plan to visit every European country and hopefully get to venture further afield in the world.
Adam joined Arbtech in October 2025.
