Anna Dolby
I heard great things about Arbtech throughout my university career.
The unlimited CPD, culture and reputation attracted me. It was clear that the employees were treated well – which is important to me – and the ability to work from home and manage my own timetable is really helpful.
When the opportunity arose, I jumped at the chance to join the company, as it was a great place to start my ecology career.
The people.
Having only recently started, it is already clear to me that my co-workers are supportive and compassionate. With that, I know that I will learn a lot!
Some other things I love:
What do you do when you are not in Arbtech?
During the weekends, I spend time with my partner and friends either gaming or going out for some drinks. We enjoy a lot of board games too, especially Risk.
Me and my partner like finding new things to do, especially new places to explore.
I’m hoping to get back into the gym soon, particularly since health and fitness are quite important to me.
I also love visiting garden centres, mainly to buy plants.
Make sure to check in with yourself, take time to focus on yourself, and keep track of your achievements.
Sometimes, the scariest things are the best decisions and inspirations to push you to reach your goals.
I haven’t had a chance to join in on any yet, but I’m looking forward to the opportunity.
I can’t wait for the 2023 Christmas party.
I haven’t had much opportunity to travel yet.
My future plans, however, are to go to Japan to see the foxes in Shiroishi and Norway to see the Northern Lights.
My next holiday plan is to go to Scotland with my partner and some friends. We’ll be camping and hiking, as well as exploring and going to various attractions. I love going to zoos and sanctuaries, so we will definitely go to Edinburgh Zoo.
Having moved around a lot due to university and other jobs as well as renting for a lot of my adult life, I’d like to have my own house and garden. I’d love to have lots of pets, including a dog.
In my professional life, I’m hoping to gain protected species licences, including for dormice and barn owls.
I want to hone my skills in ecology and become a senior ecologist.
Since sustainability is very important to me, I’d like to enhance my knowledge of biodiversity net gain, allowing me to help others with sustainable development.
I’m hopeful that I will be able to have my own caravan or converted van to travel in with my partner.
Alongside learning British Sign Language, I’d also like to work on picking up more hobbies, including getting back into horse riding.
Anna joined Arbtech in October 2023.
