Anne Turner
I was immediately drawn to Arbtech when I came across the advert for my role.
Not only did it align perfectly with my existing skills and experience, but it also offered the chance to step into a new field and continue growing professionally. The fact that Arbtech is local to where I live made the opportunity even more appealing!
As I began researching the company, I was genuinely fascinated by the scope of its environmental work – from ecology and arboriculture to the wider positive impact the team makes across the country.
It was clear that Arbtech wasn’t just another organisation; it was somewhere that values enthusiasm, expertise and a shared commitment to protecting our environment.
From the very first moment I met my future colleagues – even though it was technically an interview – I felt immediately at ease.
Everyone was friendly, supportive and genuinely interested in getting to know me as a person and not just as a candidate.
That warm welcome made me feel incredibly lucky and confident that Arbtech was exactly the right place for me.
I’m really looking forward to meeting even more people within the team, learning from them, and hopefully contributing in return.
At home, life is kept lively by Minnie – my four-year-old Jackchi (a Jack Russell/Chihuahua cross). She’s full of personality and absolutely convinced she runs the household.
I love taking her for walks, although she can be a handful! She has a dramatic dislike for anything with wheels, whether it’s a mobility scooter, pushchair, bicycle or even a wheelie bin. Because of her ‘strong opinions’, she doesn’t get to join my husband and me on trips to the pub or meals out. Her loss.
When I’m not negotiating with Minnie, you can usually find me with my nose in a book. I really enjoy thrillers, especially James Patterson novels, and I have a soft spot for detective programmes on TV. There’s something incredibly satisfying about a good mystery…
My favourite place to holiday is Wales. I absolutely love the scenery, the slower pace of life, the friendly people, and being close to the sea. There’s something so grounding about standing on a quiet beach or walking along a coastal path with nothing but fresh air and stunning views.
If I could give a young person one piece of advice about building a career and achieving their goals, it would be this: work hard at something you love.
When you enjoy what you do, it’s so much easier to stay motivated and proud of your progress.
And above all, remember that people matter. Whether at work or in your personal life, relationships are the key to enjoying yourself, learning, growing and achieving more than you ever could alone.
I haven’t had the chance to attend an Arbtech social just yet, but I’m already excited for my first one.
From everything I’ve heard, Arbtech socials are relaxed, friendly and full of people who genuinely enjoy spending time together.
If they’re anything like the warm welcome I’ve already received, I have no doubt my first social will end up being one of the best – full of good conversation, plenty of laughs and the chance to get to know everyone outside the office.
I’m really looking forward to being part of that atmosphere.
With a big birthday coming up next year, I’m hoping to finally go on a cruise – something that’s been on my wish list for years.
I wouldn’t complain about somewhere warm and sunny, but my dream destination would be the Norwegian fjords.
The landscapes look breathtaking, and I’d love the chance to see the Northern Lights in person. That’s a bucket-list item I’m determined to tick off.
This might sound a little cheesy, but honestly, in five years’ time, I would be delighted if my colleagues felt that I’d become an amazing addition to the Arbtech team.
For me, personal success isn’t just about job titles – it’s about making a meaningful contribution, being a reliable teammate, and helping to create a positive working environment.
Looking ahead, one of my biggest personal goals is to get fitter and improve my overall wellbeing.
I’ve done running in the past – including Couch to 5K and Race for Life – and while I’m not sure if I’m ready to take up running again…maybe one day!
I’m also really interested in trying Pilates and Yoga because of all the health and wellbeing benefits they offer.
Professionally, I want to keep learning, building my confidence, and becoming someone others can rely on.
I’m excited to grow within Arbtech, develop new skills, and hopefully reach a point where I can support others who join after me.
Overall, I’m really excited to be part of Arbtech and can’t wait to get to know everyone better.
Anne joined Arbtech in December 2025.
