Arnold Lasagna
I studied natural sciences at university, but mostly focused on astrophysics.
After assisting on a research project, I very quickly realised I wanted to work outside and in nature.
I saw a YouTube video at three in the morning about Arbtech with Dr James Fielding in it, and from there, impulse took the wheel.
I’d never considered ecology before that, but I googled Arbtech, which led me to the internship, and fortunately ended up here.
The people I work with, the flexibility, the independence and the opportunity to work outside.
Travel, rock climbing, surfing, mountain biking and working on various projects.
In general, I really like having something to build or tinker with.
I’ve restored a few classic cars, including a 1970s VW Beetle and a 1980s Land Rover 90, and converted a van into a camper.
Don’t overthink it.
Just say yes to things as they come up and worry about any problems later if they occur.
I haven’t been on one yet, but I’ve enjoyed meeting up with the other grads/interns I’ve worked with so far.
I also like just hanging out before or after a BERS.
I want to surf in Denmark and/or the East Coast of Ireland.
On top of that, I really want to travel anywhere in Asia one day.
More than anything, hopefully still at Arbtech. But who knows what the future holds?
There are no safe bets, but I’d like to think I’d be thriving as one of the team here.
It’s my long-term goal to get some protected species licenses under my belt.
I’d also like to travel more, get a BARS rally licence, and hopefully buy a house.
Arnold joined Arbtech in October 2025.
