What made you choose Arbtech?
Arbtech stood out to me as a company that valued its employees over everything else, which isn’t a message I thought was very prominent from other companies while I was searching for a job.
That, combined with the flexible working environment and great benefits, made Arbtech the obvious choice.
What do you love most about the company?
The thing I love the most about the company is the people!
This was my first job in the ecology field, so coming into it knowing next to nothing was daunting, but having the unrelenting support of so many knowledgeable and kind people made everything so much easier.
I’ve also met so many great people who were in the same position as me. Having those people working beside me has made the whole experience so much more enjoyable.
I also love that you can reach out to anyone, no matter their position or level.
What do you do when you are not at Arbtech?
When I’m not working, you’ll find me at the gym, running, walking (preferably hiking, but that’s a bit difficult in London), reading or at the pub with friends.
What is your biggest tip to achieve the most in life?
‘Believe you can and you’re halfway there’ – Theodore Roosevelt.
I don’t know a thing about Theodore Roosevelt, but he knew what he was talking about when he said this.
Believe in yourself and your abilities, and anything is possible.
Just remember to stay humble and be open to suggestions, criticisms and help from others.
What is the best social you’ve been on at Arbtech?
Having recently arrived at the company, I’ve only been to one social so far.
Due to that, I have to say the London October social, where we went to a games room and had dinner afterwards.
It was great!
Where do you want to travel to next?
Berlin is next on my list.
I have a good friend there who I haven’t seen in years, and I also want to explore the history, food and nightlife.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
I think I’ll either be somewhere other than London or still in London with the desire to move out of the city.
Don’t get me wrong – I love London, but I’m a country boy at heart.
I’ll still be working in the environmental sector, either in ecology or conservation, or both!
I’d love to have obtained further species licenses. In particular, licenses revolving around birds.
I would also like to be qualified to do bird ringing and a plethora of other bird-related surveys.
What is a goal you have for the future, in or out of work?
I love travelling, so I’d love to visit every continent on earth, including Antarctica.
I’ve done three so far, so four more to go!
