Jaden Allcock
Once I had completed my master’s degree, I knew I wanted to work in the field of ecology, and Arbtech was recommended to me by a graduate ecologist who works here.
From then on, I researched more about the company, was really impressed with the variety of surveys Arbtech offers and saw it as a great opportunity to gain experience in various sections of ecology.
In 2025, I was part of their internship cohort, and after six months of rewarding, hard graft, I was offered a full-time job as a graduate ecologist.
I enjoy the freedom of being able to tailor each day to a routine which suits me, allowing myself to gain valuable experience in a variety of different surveys.
The team here at Arbtech is great, and it’s extremely helpful having a variety of colleagues who are specialised in all corners of ecology.
Therefore, I have had many great opportunities to learn from my colleagues in numerous categories of surveys.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy playing and watching a variety of sports, including football, golf and basketball.
Besides sports, I love spending time with my friends and family, whether that’s exploring new places, gaming or going out for food and drinks.
I am also a member of the RSPB and enjoy visiting the wide range of sites they have across the UK.
I believe the first thing to do is figure out what makes you happiest, and what success and achievement look like to you.
Then, put yourself in an environment that aligns with what your idea of success is, and surround yourself with people who will help you achieve these goals.
Being fairly new to the company, I haven’t been on any socials yet, although I am extremely looking forward to ArbCon 2025!
I would love to go to Uganda to see their amazing wildlife such as gorillas, chimpanzees and shoebills.
I hope to have progressed within the field of ecology and gained some licenses for protected species in the UK.
More specifically, I am most interested in ornithology and would love to be working towards my bird ringing and barn owl license.
I have already met with loads of members of the team who have protected species licenses and can see that Arbtech is a brilliant place to offer opportunities to obtain these licenses.
A work goal of mine is to progress through the company as an ecologist, whilst expanding my knowledge of local wildlife and obtaining protected species licences.
Outside of work, I would love to get involved in some conservation work, whether that’s in the UK or abroad, potentially working towards research publications.
Jaden joined Arbtech in October 2025.
