Summer Dawson
I was especially drawn to the company’s strong emphasis on professional development, as well as the invaluable opportunity provided by the internship to work alongside industry experts.
It felt like the perfect chance to continue learning and applying my knowledge right out of academia.
The flexible working hours were also a huge draw for me, as they support a balanced lifestyle.
More than anything, I was looking for a place where I could grow professionally while contributing to something meaningful, and Arbtech checked all those boxes.
The collaborative atmosphere and the sense of mutual respect between colleagues.
There’s a real culture of teamwork, and everyone is willing to support each other, whether that’s through mentoring or just helping with day-to-day tasks.
I also appreciate the diversity of the projects I get to work on, which keeps things exciting and ensures I’m always learning.
The company’s focus on wellbeing and its dedication to staff welfare is something that stands out to me too, creating a workplace where you feel seen and heard.
I try to make the most of my free time by staying active and enjoying a variety of hobbies.
I love going on long walks, cooking, baking, playing guitar, reading, and spending time with my Labrador puppy, Guinness.
I spend a lot of time with my nan and grandad, who are truly my world. Whether it’s catching up over a cup of tea or simply enjoying each other’s company, it’s always my favourite part of the week!
To do things that scare you and make you nervous, because each time it gets easier, and you grow a little bit. I like to think of nerves as growing pains!
And to always remember you are where you wanted to be five years ago, as it helps me stay motivated and look at how far I have come rather than how far I still have to go.
The pumpkin social was really nice!
It was lovely to hang out with fellow Arbtechers on a small scale, where we could all have a yap and get to know each other better.
Plus, Autumn is my favourite season, so any excuse to socialise and get seasonal in October is a win!
I have always really wanted to travel around Utah in a van.
Lots of hiking, camping and exploring!
I see myself continuing to grow both professionally and personally.
I aim to expand my knowledge and skills in ecology, working towards more certifications and licenses that will deepen my expertise.
I also hope to take on more leadership responsibilities, mentoring others and helping the team thrive.
On a personal note, I see myself starting a family, balancing both a rewarding career and quality time with loved ones.
Ultimately, I envisage being in a position where I can make a significant contribution to the company’s goals while continuing to grow as both an ecological expert and a person.
One of my biggest goals for the future is to build a life that balances both my personal and professional aspirations.
Outside of work, I dream of starting my own family and creating a home that’s self-sustaining.
I’d love to have a mini homestead where I can grow my own crops, raise chickens, and live in a way that’s more connected to nature.
Summer joined Arbtech in October 2025.
