Tom Doarks
The fact that Arbtech hires interns with no previous experience appealed to me.
In a competitive job market with high entry requirements for most companies, it was refreshing to find one that was prioritising work ethic over all else.
The flexible working hours and broad training opportunities to learn many useful skills and different types of surveys.
When I’m not at Arbtech, I’m usually playing some kind of sport like golf, rock climbing, volleyball or squash.
When I can, I like to practice my Spanish or volunteer with the Wildlife Trust, and recently, I started painting as well.
Work out what your passions are and work hard towards them.
My best Arbtech social so far was the post-intern training day dinner and bowling social.
It was a fun way to relax after two long days of lectures and meet the fellow interns that we’d be working closely with for the next six months.
I’d love to go back to South America.
The wildlife and the people there are incredible, and I need to practice my Spanish, as I hope to be fluent in the near future.
I hope to be very experienced in ecology, with extensive knowledge in many types of surveys.
I also want to hold my own protected species licenses of various categories by then.
My goal is to be happy with great friends and family around me.
I want to be able to protect or improve the environment in some way, either professionally or in my spare time.
Tom joined Arbtech in October 2025.
