Holly Redfearn
The positive reviews of the internship and the opportunity to spend the summer focusing on learning and surveying really attracted me to working for Arbtech.
Being able to work with knowledgeable ecologists willing to share their experience, the flexibility of work, and the opportunity to continue learning is what made me want to stay on after the internship.
The people.
Having really supportive mentors during the internships was a great introduction to the company, and I’ve enjoyed meeting local team members and the wider team of subcontractors.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me in the garden.
I enjoy growing and propagating plants; it’s incredibly good for my mental health, and occasionally, I produce food to eat too.
Having recently moved to South Wales, I’ve tried to swim in the sea as much as possible and enjoy being by the sea or walking around the countryside.
Follow your own interests and goals.
If you are excited about what you do, it won’t feel like such hard work to achieve.
Having only recently joined, it was nice to meet up with team members situated near to me at a local social.
I love travelling around Europe.
My plan is to go to Prague next, and then hopefully, a big trip soon to see friends out in Australia.
In five years, I’d like to have gained expertise in botanic skills, as well as holding a protected species license for great crested newts.
I will be working in the environment sector, settled into living in Swansea, and maybe even have learnt how to surf.
I have a vision of eventually getting ducks, especially because it will help to keep the slugs down in my massively expanded vegetable garden.
Holly joined Arbtech in October 2025.
