What made you choose Arbtech?
Honestly, the reputation and the people.
When I was looking at companies, Arbtech stood out as somewhere with a strong culture and real room to grow.
I didn’t want somewhere that I’d just clock in and out of every day. I wanted somewhere I could actually get stuck in and make a difference. It’s turned out to be exactly that.
What do you love most about the company?
The autonomy.
Arbtech gives you the space to actually do things rather than just follow a process.
I’ve been able to get involved in projects well beyond a traditional finance role, and that suits me down to the ground.
What do you do when you are not in Arbtech?
Outside of work, I’m a Bolton Wanderers season ticket holder, home and away.
I love cooking, and I’m big into nutrition.
I still get to the gym regularly, and I’ve also started hitting balls at the driving range a couple of times a week, which I’m really enjoying.
What is the biggest tip to achieve the most in life?
Set goals you actually care about, not ones that just look good on paper.
If you’re not genuinely motivated by the goal itself, you won’t stick at it when it gets hard.
I try to always have something specific I’m working towards, whether that’s in work, fitness or something else, and that sense of direction makes a real difference.
What is the best social you’ve been on at Arbtech?
Within my first couple of weeks of joining, I was invited on a trip to Nottingham, a meal out with a big group of people who were already well-established in the company, many of whom are now associate directors.
Train, accommodation, food and drinks all covered by the company. It was a brilliant way to get to know people straight away, and honestly not something I’d experienced anywhere else before.
Where do you want to travel to next?
Seville is high on the list.
The football culture there is incredible, and it ties in nicely with my Spanish learning.
It feels like the kind of city where you can really immerse yourself, which is exactly what I’m looking for.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
By then, I’ll be fully CIMA-qualified, but the goal isn’t just to follow a traditional finance path.
I want to build on the AI tools and business systems I’ve already developed at Arbtech and move into a hybrid Finance and Business Systems role, combining financial control with process improvement and technology.
I think that’s where I can genuinely add the most value.
What is a goal you have for the future, in or out of work?
Speaking Spanish fluently.
I’ve been making steady progress and now go on regular trips to Spain where I don’t speak a word of English the whole time.
It’s the best way to learn, and I’m really enjoying it.
