Rebecca Kay
Having worked in ecology for the past 2.5 years, I was looking for a company where I could continue to grow, gain my protected species licences, and develop my skills alongside a highly experienced team.
Arbtech stood out because of the opportunities they offer for the development I was searching for.
I love the balance between fieldwork and desk-based work, as well as the trust and flexibility to manage my own timelines.
It gives me the opportunity to take ownership of my work while still being supported by the wider team.
Most of my spare time revolves around looking after animals.
I have a particular passion for reptiles, but my dogs and cats also keep me busy.
My youngest cat is unable to walk on her back legs and tends to come everywhere with me in her pushchair, so she’s usually involved in whatever I’m doing.
Find something or someone that depends on you and let that be your motivation.
It’s often easier to push yourself when you’re working towards something bigger than your own success. For me, it’s my animals.
A lot of my motivation comes from wanting to give them the best possible life. They might be a little too used to luxury now, but that’s exactly how it should be!
As I’ve only recently joined Arbtech, I haven’t had the chance to attend a social yet.
I’ve heard great things about them though, and I’m looking forward to experiencing my first one soon!
A herpetology tour in South America is definitely at the top of my list.
Being able to see some of the world’s most incredible reptiles and amphibians in their natural habitats would be an absolute dream.
Hopefully still working in ecology, having gained my protected species licences and continuing to build my experience.
I’d also love to still be part of the Arbtech team and see how far I can develop my career here.
One of my biggest goals is to help make our soon-to-be-opened family-run boarding kennels and cattery a success.
In the long term, I’d love to expand the business enough that it could help fund a wildlife rescue, combining my passion for animals with something that gives back to conservation and animal welfare.
Rebecca joined Arbtech in June 2026.
