Harriet Pryer
After quitting my job in the city, I found myself searching for a role connected to nature.
Eight months passed without success until I stumbled upon Arbtech’s internship – a ‘zero to hero’ path into ecology without the years of unpaid work often required to get there.
It was a pretty easy choice, and I’m very grateful to feel like I’m on the right track again!
The people.
It still amazes me how hilarious, supportive and kind everyone is here.
I love camping, hiking and exploring with friends.
Nature is where I feel happiest and most myself, as well as being where connecting with others feels easiest and most rewarding.
Beyond that, I love to write and read, and I enjoy discovering new books and authors that challenge me to think differently.
Do the hard thing.
Growth usually comes with a little discomfort.
I’m a big foodie!
We recently went to Dishoom, which I absolutely loved.
The list is endless, but I am hoping to escape to Patagonia soon.
I haven’t been here long, but I’ve already learned a lot.
I’m hoping to have my great crested newt licence within a few years and to have taken my FISC Level Three by then too.
In the future, I plan to move back to Devon and work in environmental education, encouraging children to connect with and learn from nature.
I’m also in the throes of writing and illustrating a children’s book about nature rooted in philosophy. I’m really hoping that someday I’ll actually get around to publishing it.
Harriet joined Arbtech in October 2025.
