Rosie Ryland
After struggling to find a job in my field straight out of university, as all jobs require experience, I was told about the Arbtech internship.
The internship allowed me to develop many skills in the industry. And from then on, I enjoyed the company and work.
I really like the flexible working hours. It means I can take a long walk in the day and see the sun – something that will be really important as the days get shorter.
I also really like how everyone who works at the company is really friendly and ready to help whenever I need. I think it is a great working environment.
When not at Arbtech, I like to explore new green areas in London.
I have spent a lot of recent weekends at music events because I really enjoy seeing a range of live music genres. And spending that time with my friends is very important to me.
I like to live by doing things. If I feel like I might regret not doing it, then I do it.
I’d rather do something new and find that I actually really like it than always regret not doing it. And what’s the worst that can happen? Realistically, it’s never going to be that bad.
I’ve only been at the company for a couple of months, so I’ve only been on one social so far.
In my first, it was a lot of fun to see everyone in my areas and get to know colleagues in another setting to work.
I love to travel and have a long list of dream destinations.
I am about to embark on a trip to Sri Lanka, so I haven’t thought too much about other places after that.
I think my next trip will probably be to somewhere in South America, likely Peru or Mexico.
I would love to see all the wildlife there and explore the jungles, as well as the marine life, food and different cultures.
I love scuba diving, so any country where I can do that is a good place for me!
I’ve really not thought about long-term too much.
I would love to gain more skills in working with niche species. I think amphibians and reptiles would be really cool.
In the future, I would love to travel more and do some conservation abroad.
We get a lot of holidays here, and so I already know that I can take a big chunk for some good travelling trips.
I also really enjoy research, and so to have some scientific papers published is a big goal of mine.
Rosie joined Arbtech in October 2025.
