After graduating from university, I had been looking for a job in the environmental sector and came across Arbtech on LinkedIn.
As I looked more into the company, I noticed how many positive things people had to say about it.
I was also excited by the idea of getting to work outdoors with animals on-site but also working from home, meaning that I could create a schedule that worked for me.
My favourite aspect of Arbtech is the people.
Everyone I have met and worked with has been so kind and willing to help, especially when I first started the job.
Everyone loves to share their knowledge, which makes learning new skills not so scary.
When I’m not at Arbtech, I try to go outside as much as I can, whether that’s exploring a new part of London, going on a hike or playing football.
I also very much enjoy thrifting and trying different coffee shops.
You can also often find me playing sudoku, and I have recently started reading again, so I will often stay up late doing one of the two.
I recently discovered Murdoku, which combines murder mysteries (my favourite type of books) and sudoku. I enjoy brain puzzles, so it’s ideal for me.
If I’m not doing any of the above, I will most likely be in the pub playing card games with friends.
Get out of your comfort zone, try new things, and explore!
I think it is so important to do things that we might find scary or uncomfortable. How are you supposed to know if you like something if you’ve never done it?
My favourite social was definitely ArbFest!
It was so much fun getting to meet people from across the company and spend time with colleagues I don’t usually get to see, as we all live in different places.
I especially enjoyed going kayaking and paddleboarding!
I have so many places I want to travel to!
Since moving to the UK, my goal is to go to three new countries per year (minimum) since it’s so easy to get around Europe.
I went to Croatia this past year and loved it, so I definitely want to explore more of the Balkans.
I also want to travel to Asia. I don’t know where specifically, but I’d be happy going almost anywhere!
In 5 years’ time, I hope to still be in the ecology world, continuing to learn new skills and hopefully share my knowledge with others not in the ecology sector.
I would hope to have a few licenses as well.
I don’t have any super specific goals at the moment, but a constant goal of mine is to stay curious and be eager to learn!
